Various studies show that Lithuanian teachers lack a scientifically based, adapted methodology for working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). There is no approved methodology in Lithuania for reducing the symptoms of ASD in children, and they could be integrated rather than isolated by being assigned to special schools.
The aim of the project is to apply the ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis Method) methodology to children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders in order to reduce the signs of autism or other developmental disorders by increasing social integration and full inclusion in the education system
During the project it is planned:
- To apply science-based, personalized ABA therapy to children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders in their natural environment (including the family);
-
To acquaint Lithuanian small and medium-sized municipalities (Varėna, Trakai, Šiauliai, Šilutė, Prienai, Jurbarkas, Jonava, Birštonas, Kelmė districts and Palanga) education, training specialists and their assistants with the peculiarities of learning children and young people with ASD, to provide theoretical and practical knowledge of the application of the ABA methodology.
-
To provide psychological support to parents /guardians who have young child with ASD.
