On 23 June, in Tauragė, the Lithuanian Capital of Culture, the most impressive and brightest Culture Wreath will be lit. The installation, created by the talented light artist Arvydas Buinauskas, will entertain the citizens and guests who decide to visit the Lithuanian Capital of Culture in the Castle Square throughout the weekend.
 

Spectacular by day and unforgettable by night, the Culture Wreath will encourage people to experience culture and get to know the cultural projects funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway that are travelling through the Lithuanian regions. Organised by the Central Project Management Agency (CPVA) in cooperation with Tauragė District Municipality, this year's Midsummer Festival will bring together tradition and modern, professional art.
 

"This weekend's Cultural Wreath, first of all, we have put the light of three years of cultural projects implemented in all regions of Lithuania under the European Economic Area and Norwegian financial mechanisms. The activities of the 16 projects have already brought joy to thousands of Lithuanians, and the main aim of the programme is to bring more and more diverse culture to the regions, thus improving the quality of life for all of us. We wanted to tell the story of promoting cultural entrepreneurship, disseminating works of high artistic value or preserving cultural heritage for future generations from the region. The Lithuanian Capital of Culture seemed the most appropriate place for this. I believe that the light of the Culture Wreath from Tauragė will reach the whole country", says Sandra Remeikienė, representative of the Central Project Management Agency.
 

After lighting up on Friday evening, the art installation created by A. Buinauskas will delight the whole weekend.

The installation will be accompanied by festive events

The festive events in Tauragė will start in the early evening: from 6 pm Tauragė's art collectives will accompany you into the shortest night of the year in the Taurus Adventure Park, which has already become a traditional Midsummer's Eve celebration place. From 8 pm guests will be entertained by a performance by dancers from the modern dance theatre Low Air, a playful contest with unexpected prizes and a concert and fire show by the energetic The Roop, which encourages people to get to know the cultural projects travelling through Lithuania, and a concert by the Taurus Cultural Centre. 
 

At 23:00, for the first time in Lithuania, an impressive 12-metre diameter Culture Wreath will light up the Midsummer sky in Tauragė Castle Square. The participants of the celebration gathered in the Tauri Adventure Park will watch this moment during the live broadcast.
